En gjennomgang av vitenskapelige studier av slik Arktisk kvalitet viser effekter for både sensorisk kvalitet og ulike innholdsstoffer for flere produkter. Innen kålvekster påvirker klimaet utseende (brokkoli) og reduserer glukosinolatinnhold og bittersmak (brokkoli og kålrot).

It’s never too late to join the revolution! – Enabling new modes of production in the contemporary Danish food system

Soil fertility after 10 years of conservation tillage in organic farming

It has become commonplace to consider ploughing as an agricultural practice that destroys soil fertility. Organic farmers have traditionally used the plough to till their soil and control weeds. However, there is a growing interest in adopting tillage practices without ploughing to preserve long-term soil fertility and in the hope, subsequently, of increasing crop yields. The aim of this paper is to assess if conservation tillage treatments in organic farming did in fact improve long-term soil fertility, wheat rooting and yield in a long term field experiment (2004–2015).

Influences of Biodynamic and Conventional Farming Systems on Quality of Potato (Solanum Tuberosum L.) Crops: Results from Multivariate Analyses of Two Long-Term Field Trials in Sweden

Bee pollination improves crop quality, shelf life and commercial value

Pollination improves the yield of most crop species and contributes to one-third of global crop production, but comprehensive benefits including crop quality are still unknown. Hence, pollination is underestimated by international policies, which is particularly alarming in times of agricultural intensification and diminishing pollination services. In this study, exclusion experiments with strawberries showed bee pollination to improve fruit quality, quantity and market value compared with wind and self-pollination.

Contribution of insect pollinators to crop yield and quality varies with agricultural intensification

Up to 75% of crop species benefit at least to some degree from animal pollination for fruit or seed set and yield. However, basic information on the level of pollinator dependence and pollinator contribution to yield is lacking for many crops. Even less is known about how insect pollination affects crop quality. Given that habitat loss and agricultural intensification are known to decrease pollinator richness and abundance, there is a need to assess the consequences for different components of crop production.

The quality of leguminous vegetables as influenced by preharvest factors

The cultivation of most legumes, aims to the production of either dry seeds consumed by humans, also known as pulses, or animal fodder. However, some legumes are cultivated for fresh consumption either as pods or as immature seeds. The economically most important legumes consumed as vegetables are green pods of common bean, cowpea, faba bean, snow pea (mangetout) and green pea seeds. As a rule, the legume vegetables are consumed after cooking and in many countries, they may be used to cover primary nutritional needs, because their protein content is high in comparison with most other vegetables.

Bedømmelse av lagringsevne og biologisk bekjempelse til forebygging av råte og kvalitetstap i potet 2011-2014

Målet med prosjektet er å bruke potet som modellsystem for å utvikle en test for kvalitetskontroll av potet som skal lagres, slik at man kan evaluere hvilke partier som bør brukes med en gang og hvilke partier som kan lagres i lengre perioder. I den norske delen av dette nordiske samarbeidsprosjektet studerer vi utvikling av sykdommene tørråte og sølvskurv på lager.
