Denne oppgåva handlar om korleis innovasjonar skjer i fruktnæringa i Hardanger og Sør-Tyrol (Italia). Denne problemstillinga vert gripe an gjennom fire underspørsmål: Korleis vart fruktnæringa den dominerande jordbruksnæringa i desse områda? Korleis har forholdet mellom produksjonssystem, salssystem og kunnskapsinfrastruktur utvikla seg over tid? Korleis står denne utviklinga i forhold til utviklinga i næringa som heilskap? Korleis vert kunnskap utanfrå henta inn og gjort nyttig lokalt?

Beitemarka – et ukjent karbonlager

Husdyrbruk vil fortsatt være viktig framover for å imøtekomme økende etterspørsel etter matvarer i en tid da klimaendringene truer matproduksjonen over store deler av verden (NOU, 2018:17). Beite holder landskapet åpent og bidrar til å opprettholde verdifullt biologisk mangfold på naturbeitemark. Samtidig som husdyra og husdyrproduksjonen bidrar til utslipp av klimagasser, bidrar de gjennom beite også til opptak og lagring av klimagasser (Teague, mfl., 2016).

Persistence in soil of Miscanthus biochar in laboratory and field conditions

Landbruket er en viktig del av karbonkretsløpet. FAO har anslått at hvis landbruket globalt tar i bruk kjent karbon-bindende jordbrukspraksis, som vekstskifte med eng, erstatter åpenåker med jorddekke og underkultur osv., er det mulig å binde tilstrekkelig karbon til å snu økningen av CO2 i luft og reversere klimaendringene. Karbonbinding i jord er et viktig bidrag til å holde jordens temperaturøkning til under 2°C (Lal. R. 2013. Ghabbour, E. m. fl. 2017).

Jordhelse, karbon og regenerativt landbruk – for bønder, av ein bonde

Etter 20 års erfaring som konvensjonell kornbonde og deretter 7 år som økologisk kornbonde ble jeg i 2015 gjort oppmerksom på ein youtubevideo av Gabe Brown. Den videoen satte meg nesten helt ut pga. at jeg skjønna hvor lite jeg egentlig forstod om jord, og hvilken effekt jordhelsa kan ha på plantevekst. Det er 4 år siden jeg kom over dette med regenerativt landbruk og i perioder har jeg brukt store deler av fritida mi på å lese mer om dette for å lære og forstå. Jeg har her prøvd å lage ei lita konsentrert samling av hovedpunkta av det jeg har lest i artikler og bøker og hørt/sett på youtube om jordhelse, hvorfor og hvordan.

Nitrogen fertilizer replacement value of digestates from three green manures

Anaerobic digestion of green manures may provide ammonium rich digestate, which can be redistributed as fertilizer. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of plant species composition, cutting strategy and anaerobic digestion on the N fertilizer replacement value (NFRV) of different green manures.

Rotogräsens När Var Hur – En guide till icke-kemisk bekämpning av perenna ogräs

Kvickrot, åkertistel och tussilago! Det var det vanligaste svaret Per Bohlin fick på sin fråga om vil­ka ogräs som är svårast att kontrollera. Han var över­assistent på Centralanstalten för försöksväsendet på jordbruksområdet, och frågan ställdes i en enkät som sändes ut till framträdande lantbrukare i varje svensk socken år 1921. Möjligen bortsett från tussilagon är det ett svar som fortfarande har sin giltighet, framför­ allt inom ekologisk odling.

Stable soil aggregates are essential for optimal crop growth and preventing soil erosion. However, tillage is often used in agriculture to loosen the soil, which disrupts the integrity of these aggregates. Soil aggregation can be enhanced by bacteria through their ability to produce exopolysaccharides and lipopolysaccharides. These compounds stabilize soil aggregates by “gluing” soil particles together.

Muligheter og utfordringer for økt karbonbinding i jordbruksjord

En økning i karbonlagring i landbruksjord er angitt som et viktig klimatiltak både internasjonalt og i Norge. Tiltaket er godt begrunnet: Jorden inneholder to til tre ganger så mye karbon som atmosfæren, noe som innebærer at relative små endringer i innhold av karbon i jord kan ha betydelige effekter på CO2-innholdet i atmosfæren og det globale klimaet.

Decentralization and liberalization of seeds and plant genetic resources regulations in Europe: A Danish case study.

In a context of severe plant genetic diversity erosion, the regulatory framework of the European Union is perceived as a limiting factor for practices aiming to conserve cultivated biodiversity. To create more supportive frameworks, some EU member states liberalized seed trade and landraces cultivation at national or regional level. For this paper, a case study of the 2015 cereal and vegetable seed legislation reform in Denmark has been carried out.

Sustenance and sustainability: maximizing the impact of school gardens on health outcomes

School garden programmes have become popular action-oriented learning environments in many countries, often driven by converging priorities of environmental sustainability and healthful diets. Many of these programmes have assessed the impact on dietary intake, specifically fruit and vegetable intake, and related dietary behaviours, such as knowledge, preference, motivation, intention and self-efficacy to eat and prepare fruit and vegetables. Options for keeping the food system within environmental limits

The food system is a major driver of climate change, changes in land use, depletion of freshwater resources, and pollution of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems through excessive nitrogen and phosphorus inputs. Here we show that between 2010 and 2050, as a result of expected changes in population and income levels, the environmental effects of the food system could increase by 50–90% in the absence of technological changes and dedicated mitigation measures, reaching levels that are beyond the planetary boundaries that define a safe operating space for humanity.

Sustainable intensification of agriculture for human prosperity and global sustainability

Food systems have the potential to nurture human health and support environmental sustainability; however, they are currently threatening both. Providing a growing global population with healthy diets from sustainable food systems is an immediate challenge. Although global food production of calories has kept pace with population growth, more than 820 million people have insufficient food and many more consume low-quality diets that cause micronutrient deficiencies and contribute to a substantial rise in the incidence of diet-related obesity and diet-related non-communicable diseases, including coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

Food vs. non-food crops : changes in areas and yields 1992 to 2016

God skötsel av skyddszoner för effektivare växtnäringsretention

We are currently evaluating the effectiveness of grass buffer strips (GBS-eff) for nutrient retention. Today, there are no obligations to cut or remove the grass on GBS which may lead to phosphorus (P) saturation. In the on-going field experiments we are testing if removal (harvesting) the grass can reduce soil P enrichment in GBS and improve and even-out water infiltration, in order to advance sediment and P retention.

Karbon i jord – kilder, handtering, omdanning

materiale i jord.

Korn til mat – lokale verdikjeder

For å støtte opp om en videre utvikling i Møre og Romsdal foreslår vi å gjennomføre feltforsøk innen bygg og havre, og i tillegg følge opp det nettverket som er etablert.

The main goal of the project has been to develop innovative sustainable processing and packaging technologies to meet the growing consumer demand and boost the manufacturing of safe organic berry products with high nutritional quality and low environmental impact. The aim has been to evaluate technologies to naturally extend the shelf-life of fresh organic berries and to process berries into a wide variety of value added products. Several solutions and technologies for extending shelf life and the overall quality of fresh and processed berry and fruit products have been identified and developed during the three years of the project.
