The project aims to contribute to increased profitability, competitiveness and growth within berry cultivation, by developing effective control strategies for the sustainable production of strawberries in substrate. Substrate cultivation in tunnel is approved for better growth and higher yield than conventional cultivation, but is significantly more sensitive to disturbances. The study’s focus is better system for biological control of root diseases. The goal is to investigate the suppressive effect of the substrate against root diseases in commercial cultivation, to evaluate root pathogens in commercial cultivation, as well as follow the development of and identify groups of microorganisms that can enhance the effect of biocontrol agent Binab Bär and/or potassium phosphite. The project is carried out in close collaboration between researchers, advisors and growers. Results will be disseminated via collaboration partners’ network, an education day at Alnarp and a fact sheet.
